Join the Redsides Chapter of Trout Unlimited for our November chapter meeting. We’ll be in our normal place — The Attic room, upstairs at PublicHouse.
We will be discussing several conservation issues impacting the McKenzie River, including salmon recovery efforts, the scheduled removal of the Leaburg Dam, and the overall state of the McKenzie.
We will be joined by Special Guests Arlen Thomason and Dave Thomas. Arlen and Dave are the Conservation Chairs for the McKenzie Fly Fishers. Arlen is the author and photographer of the fantastic book BugWater and a retired molecular biologist who lives on the McKenzie. Dave is a Native Fish Society's River Steward for the McKenzie along with Chris Daughters. Dave retired from a career in pharmaceutical research.
Their collective science backgrounds combined with the hours they have spent on McKenzie River research is unmatched, including their study, "What Happens To Native Trout Fisheries When We Remove Competing Hatchery Stock - The McKenzie River Example." For more information on the study, see: https://www.mckenzietroutstudy.org/
